PN employees still waiting for October salary

“We cannot understand how this debt was accumulated,” employees ask.

The majority of PN employees are still waiting for their October salary, Sunday newspaper ILLUM has learnt.

Although they were re-assured over and over again that as from September their salary will be issued on time, PN employees are yet again on tenterhooks.

There is huge disappointment among PN employees that have been forced to go through such a miserable situation since March. Employees that spoke with ILLUM said that although they tried to express their troubles to the management, their complaints fell on deaf ears.

"They (the management) are taking us for a ride," an employee who's been working with media.link communications for over 10 years told ILLUM. "I've always done my job in the best way possible and now I'm not even getting my salary. This is mine by right."

"We cannot understand how the PN's debt was accumulated. I hope that one day the truth will be revealed," the distressed employee said.

On 28 March the Nationalist Party had informed its employees that their March salary would be paid sometime the following month because of financial problems.

The news was broken during a staff meeting addressed by former general secretary Paul Borg Olivier and former financial controller Antoine Borg, who has since taken a seat in Parliament.

Employees that spoke with ILLUM said that the former Financial Controller Antoine Borg was only focused on his personal campaign. "Borg is one of those who did not have the adequate capabilities and failed to shoulder responsability allowing all this to happen," irate employees said.

"It seems that former Secretary General Paul Borg Olivier is not perturbed by such financial woes," one employee remarked. "He went abroad in the Alps and Bologna and bought a new luxurious car. And I can barely make ends meet at the end of the month. Shame on him. I hope that since they left the administration, the state of affairs will improve."
