Ryanair reroutes Trapani flights due to Libyan assault
As Sicily’s Trapani Airport shuts down domestic flights due to ongoing military action in Libya, Ryanair has rerouted its three weekly Trapani-Luqa flights to Palermo.
In a statement, the airline said it had been advised by the airport that from today (Monday 21 March), it will be closed to all civilian traffic for an indefinite period.
All Ryanair flights scheduled to travel to and from Trapani after 7 a.m. this morning will operate out of Palermo Airport, which the airline said is some 35 miles from Trapani Airport.
Ryanair has posted a list of the affected flights on its website.
Three military jets took off from Trapani Airport last night, although AP reported that their destination was unknown.
