Government projecting creation of 1,280 new jobs through foreign investment

The 36 foreign investment projects approved by Enterprise Malta in 2013 are expected to create 1,280 new jobs in three years, economy minister Chris Cardona says.

The minister for the economy Chris Cardona has today said that Malta Enterprise has approved 36 greenfield projects in 2013 and these foreign investment projects are expected to create 1,280 new jobs in three years.

In a parliamentary reply, Cardona explained that only one project out of the 36 was approved before the March general election, which saw the Labour government elected to office after a 15-year absence.

This contrasted with the two foreign investment projects approved by the previous PN government in 2012, which Cardona said, created 38 new jobs.

Cardona reassured opposition MP Kristy Debono that Malta Enterprise was committed to attract more foreign investment and "better our own record achieved in 2013."
