Former judge Joseph Galea Debono reacted to the proposed drug reform the government hinted at in recent weeks. Galea Debono said that first time offenders - and some repeat offenders - never went to prison. They received a conditional discharge and/or a fine but a prison sentence would invariably result in an appeal. The judge said that the reform did not match up to how the courts function presently.

The PN raised over €300,000 in a fundraising marathon held yesterday at the party headquarters. PN leader Simon Busuttil thanked all those who donated and said that the funds collected were crucial to the party in its electoral campaign.

PM Joseph Muscat addressed a large crowd yesterday in Cospicua, marking International Workers' Day. He asked Labour supporters, who he called 'soldiers of steel' to prove themselves in the upcoming MEP elections. He made reference to the first Workers' Day celebrated in Malta in 1926 and compared the challenges the first activists faced to those the Labour party faces today.

A source within the health sector told this newspaper that, by his estimate, about half of the current MPs, from both sides, have used their political influence to interfere within the sector. Elderly patients have stayed on unnecessarily at Karen Grech hospital and Mater Dei and waiting lists have been circumvented thanks to such abuse.
