87 migrants, all men, were rescued off the coast of Malta yesterday morning. Those on board said that some 20 of their number had died at sea and their bodies were thrown overboard. One migrant died at Mater Dei while three others tested negative for ebola. The survivors are being kept in quarantine as a precaution.

The compilation of evidence against Terrence Tanti, who faces charges that include the involuntary homicide of his 22-year-old friend, began yesterday. Another passenger testified, saying that he felt the car's rear end 'give' just before the accident.

The General Workers' Union challenged Opposition leader Simon Busuttil to repeat his accusations that the union stood to benefit from keeping mum on the energy agreement.

The official dismissed for allegedly accepting gifts from Trafigura, at George Farrugia's request, was handpicked for the position by minister Konrad Mizzi. Godwin Sant, who was dismissed after allegations came to light, was the CEO of the Sustainable Energy and Water Conservation Unit.
