Stories from today's National Press

MaltaToday:

MaltaToday provides live coverage of voting day for referendum on spring hunting derogation and local councils 2015.

The Times of Malta:

Voters across the country heading to the polls for abrogative referendum on spring hunting. Voters will decide the fate of spring hunting in the first ever referendum of its kind and half the country will also be voting for local council representatives. The referendum which is the seventh in 145 years will ask voters whether they want to retain the law that makes spring hunting possible in the country, and the results, unlike other referenda, will be binding.

In-Nazzjon:

Today marks the day of voting for the spring hunting referendum and local council elections. The country is called to vote in its first ever abrogative referendum and the residents of 34 localities across Malta and Gozo are voting for their new local councils. 338,450 citizens have a right to vote for the referendum whereas those with a right to vote for local councils amount to 197,699.

L-Orizzont:

Record of uncollected voting documents registered in 20 years with 20,937 votes out of 338,500 registered votes remaining uncollected. The majority of these votes are not from localities that are popular with hunters. The number of unregistered voters is highly contrasting with other referenda such as the 2003 European Union referendum which presented 4,208 uncollected documents.
