The government officially launched servizz.gov, which consists of three hubs aimed at providing better access to assistance and government services for the public.

Phase one of the project includes the setting up of servizz.gov in Birkirkara, Paola and Qawra.

From their launch three weeks ago, these centres have already provided assistance to 3,000 service users.

Principle Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar said that most of the people who required assistance were registered in Qawra. Most of the queries in this locality were related to identity management.

He explained that servizz.gov would provide more than 250 services, ranging from access to certificates, tax, employment and social benefits.

This was the first phase of the project as later; in 2016, a second phase will be launched which will see the setting up of three or four more centres. He did not specify in which localities they would be opened.

Parliamentary Secretary for Planning Michael Falzon said that this project shows how the government aims to move closer to the people. He insisted that simplification must be applied throughout all sectors of society.

Servizz.gov will allow the citizens to keep track of their complaint or call for assistance. Every entry will be given a time frame when the actual service must be implemented. To access the service, service users must provide a valid identity document.
