In the Press: PN calls defamation suit against MP Jason Azzopardi 'undemocratic'

Opposition MP Jason Azzopardi will face charges next week, in relation to a political activity last year during which he is accused of defaming former police commissioner Peter Paul Zammit. The PN  has denounced the move as a threat to democracy and an attempt to distract from ongoing government scandals.

PN leader Simon Busuttil said that the government was becoming desperate and as such has itself become a threat to democracy. Addressing a press conference yesterday, Busuttil said that the government was lashing out at whoever it perceived to be an adversary. 

L-Orizzont

Fuel will, starting from today, decrease in price, with diesel dropping by €0.06c per litre and unleaded petrol dropping by €0.04c per litre. These prices are expected to remain stable until the end of June.

A police sergeant was injured in an altercation with an armed man under the influence of drugs this week. The officer was helping to subdue the aggressive individual when he was shot in the leg. The suspect was also injured by the shot.
