Labour Party deputy leader Chris Cardona said the PN persisted in managing by crisis, changing its tune according to the situation in hand.

Cardona quoted the PN’s report on good governance saying that MPs had a duty to report MPs abusing their power.

“The case has resulted in an altogether different reaction, and Busuttil has not taken the necessary or promised action,” he said, stressing that Busuttil was showing double standards.

He accused the PN of covered up the investigation against Toni Bezzina prior to the previous election to prevent losing votes from the strategically-important fifth district.

“Busuttil will continue to insist on using double standards,” he said, questioning why the PN was reacting differently in this case compared to the one involving Giovanna Debono.

Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi reiterated that the PN had resisted calls to take action against its MP, Toni Bezzina.

“The inaction comes in the midst of a libel case that ultimately proved that Bezzina was forcing workers from the public sector to carry out works on a PN club in Siggiewi, as well as to sign declarations to deny any wrongdoing,” he said.

He added that PN leader Simon Busuttil had continued to defend Bezzina, despite the result of the case.

“This leads the PL to question Busuttil’s claims on good governance and it also sheds doubt on all his intentions,” Zrinzo Azzopardi said.
