Today, Dr Clare Vassallo clarified her position regarding abortion in the wake of reactions to her stand on the morning after pill.

Vassallo, an academic at the University of Malta, today expressed herself against abortion, saying that abortion and contraception are completely different issues.

“I am not in favour of abortion, but I am STRONGLY in favour of seriously adequate contraception, including emergency contraception, or MAP. Contraception eliminates the desperate decisions some women make in either having an unwanted baby or terminating a pregnancy,” she writes on the Facebook group Women for Women.
