Malta has the potential to attract more foreign investment, provided that it is able to better position itself as a jurisdiction that facilitates investment, according to shadow economy minister Claudio Grech. “The PN will continue putting forward proposals designed to help our evolve further and be better prepared to handle global challenges,” he added.

Grech was speaking during a meeting with Trade Malta, an executive agency dedicated to supporting businesses based in Malta in reaching international markets. Present for the meeting were also Kristy Debono, the PN’s spokesperson for Financial services, Gaming and IT, together with candidates Dorian Sciberras and Liam Sciberras.

During the meeting, the PN delegation presented a number of proposals for turning into a “primary European commercial centre,” based on three main pillars:

  • Strengthening Malta’s profile as well as its commercial and competitive framework for Malta to be more “visible” to individuals seeking to invest in the European Union.
  • The introduction of measures for helping the most important economic sectors shift to new and more competitive models.
  • A “completely new model” that will put innovative SMEs at the centre of the Maltese economy.

“Malta has the credentials to make the leap towards as healthier profile which is visible and respected throughout the business world,” said Debono, adding that the PN’s proposals are designed to incentivise more local investment so as to make Malta more attractive to foreign investors. “The Nationalist Party has a clear vision for how the Maltese economy should grow and is putting this vision forward to all stakeholders,” she said.
