The Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) have threatened legal action against the parent of a child that attended Skola Sajf, after the parent claimed that a cross was removed from a classroom wall by a Muslim LSE for religious reasons.

Further investigation concluded that the cross was removed due to classroom renovations being carried out during the summer.

In a statement, the MUT said that it expects the relevant authorities to proceed with legal action, after the parent’s false allegations were made with the aim of demeaning the LSE’s religion and profession.

The MUT said that it will not be tolerating irresponsible behaviour against educators, and expects authorities to take the necessary steps against those that do.
