14 injured in Salford gas explosion

Four houses were destroyed and others were damaged in the blast in Irlam, early this morning. The blast has blown off roof tiles and smashed car windows.

Reports suggest there are also five people wounded, two adults and three children.

The house at the centre of the blast had its kitchen refurbished. A spokesman for City West Housing Trust, which owns the property, confirmed that work had been carried out and said investigation are going on.
