Bolt and the National Blood Transfusion Service recap: Over 1,700 blood donors donated blood in Malta
Bolt collaboration with National Blood Transfusion Service saw the ride-hailing platform provide 3,400 free rides to blood donors

Bolt is proud to announce that its collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) in Malta has seen significant success. Since the partnership’s launch in June 2023, Bolt has provided over 3,400 free rides to blood donors, helping to overcome transportation barriers for those contributing to life-saving blood donations.
The initiative, which covers both the journey to and from the donation centres, has made blood donation more accessible to the local community, ensuring that transportation is no longer an obstacle for potential donors. By offering free rides, Bolt continues to support Malta's healthcare system and encourages more people to take part in this vital cause.
“We’re extremely proud of the impact this initiative has had in the past year,” said a Bolt spokesperson at Bolt Malta. “By providing free rides to blood donors, we’ve removed a key barrier and enabled more people to contribute to the health of our community. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are committed to continuing this partnership and supporting the National Blood Transfusion Service in Malta.”
"This partnership has made a real difference—not just for our service, but for every patient whose life depends on blood donation,” said Dr Monique Debattista, Medical Director of the National Blood Transfusion Service. “Thanks to Bolt, hundreds of donors have been able to reach us who might not have otherwise. We’re excited to continue working together to make donating even easier and more accessible for everyone in our community."
The free ride initiative will continue to run, ensuring that transportation remains available to those willing to donate blood at the main Blood Donation Centre in G’Manga, Malta.
