Tenor Joseph Calleja sings for a good cause tonight

The Joseph Calleja Foundation was established to provide encouragement and assistance to exceptionally talented young persons in the field of the performing arts, and to use to power of music to assist in the lives of vulnerable children.

Tenor Joseph Calleja is to head a world class line up of performers for this year’s BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation fundraising concert, which will feature the concertmaster at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, David Chan, conducting the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Joseph Calleja Foundation was established to provide encouragement and assistance to exceptionally talented young persons in the field of the performing arts, and to use to power of music to assist in the lives of vulnerable children.

The concert, which starts at 8pm, will feature Joseph Calleja, a number of Foundation Scholars together with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by David Chan. 

David Chan is the concert master of the prestigious Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York.  David is a very active soloist, recitalist and chamber musician, having made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2003. 

The concert will be followed by a reception at the Casino Maltese.


Tickets for the concert, available against a donation of €100 each, may be reserved through the Manoel Theatre booking website www.teatrumanoel.com.mt. Benefactors who attend the concert will also have the opportunity to meet Joseph Calleja and the guest artists during the post-concert reception.
