GO has taken the lead in local mobile internet services after it unveiled the newly established download speed reaching 42Mbps.

This is set to offer the fastest and most reliable mobile internet around, doubling the speed on offer by any local provider today.

All of this is enabled by a major overhaul of the 3G mobile network.

GO is today the only provider in Malta whose state-of-the-art, energy-efficient base stations are linked to the network core and the internet via fibre, so customers benefit from super-fast links all the way from their mobile to the base station, as well as from the base station to the World Wide Web.

Speaking about GO's superb mobile internet experience, Chief Commerical Officer Yiannos Michaelides said: "GO is the first telecommunications provider in Malta to actually offer the fastest speed up to 42Mbps delivering the best mobile internet experience to its customers across the country."

"GO now offer the best mobile internet experience on the island, backed by GO's well-established fixed internet service, which is constantly being improved through the on-going roll-out of fibre," he added.

GO's mobile internet campaign carries the slogan: 'Join the revolution'.

"We are living in a changing world and mobile internet is changing people's communications - indeed, a revolution that is changing our lives! And GO, as ever, has been at the forefront of change. We are the leaders in the market," Michaelides said.

Michaelides emphasised that GO has "been a key catalyst in the growth and development of essential services in the island - from telephony, be it fixed or mobile, to the internet and TV. Today, we are proud to be Malta's leading quad-play provider - a brand that homes, businesses and individuals rely on every day. Our commitment is to continue to do so in the future."

Michaelides also said GO was investing €100 million on new infrastructure to strengthen its network with the ultimate aim to enhance GO's consumer experience.

"We today encourage you to join the revolution and open the door to countless possibilities and experiences," Michaelides said.

Seems like the players have moved to the next level of red hot competition. Good news for customers. Down with public/private monopolies/oligopolies. Long may competition conquer the market!
