Official lampuki season has kicked off with the traditional blessing ceremony of the fishing boats.

Colourful fishing boats laden with stone slabs, floats and palm fronds were blessed by the Marsaxlokk parish street, officially opening this year's lampuki season.
Hoping for better fish landings, the fishermen spend several months preparing for the season which may continue up to December.
