Prime Minister Robert Abela met with social partners a week before the 2024 Budget to discuss their ideas for next year's budget.

Meetings with the Malta Employers Association were held on Monday, as the labour market was given priority during the discussions.

Abela stated that the improvement of Malta's employment market will result from the investment in workers' skills.

The Prime Minister said that while government has been incentivising work during the last five years, government aims to strengthen incentives focussing on training.

The most recent Y-Plate regulation changes and the regularisation of temping agencies are two further government steps to continue bolstering the employment market, the government statement noted.

The meeting was also attended by PL MP Naomi Cachia, energy minister Miriam Dalli, parliamentary secretary for social dialogue Andy Ellul, and finance minister Clyde Caruana.
