The Maltese courts have sentenced two men to pay €1,500 each in fines for illegal bird trapping.

According to the Campaign Against Bird Slaughter, the trappers were filmed by CABS volunteers last December when they tried to catch protected Lapwings close to Fomm ir-Rih.

The photo was presented as evidence at the court and shows one of the men holding a protected Lapwing in his hand.

In another case heard by the court today a hunter was found guilty of hunting outside the season on the 1st of May 2014. He has to pay a fine.
