Motorcyclist in danger of dying after crash

A motorcyclist is in danger of dying after he was involved in a crash with a pick-up van in Rabat this morning.

The incident occurred this afternoon at about 11:45 in Triq Buqana, Rabat, when a Yamaha motorcycle driven by a 52-year-old man from Mtarfa crashed into a Mazda pick-up van driven by a 69-year-old man from Mosta.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the motorcyclist hit a nearby rubble wall, while the pick-up van ended up crashing in a field after it attempted to swerve around the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was conveyed to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was certified to be suffering from life threatening injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing while an inquiry is underway.
