Man in critical condition after Attard construction site accident

An inquiry is to be carried out into a construction accident this morning that has left one man in a critical condition .

According to a police statement, an emergency call for assistance at a construction site at Triq L-Inbid, Attard, was received earlier today at around 10:40 am. Officers from the Birkirkara police station raced to the scene and found the worker, who had apparently fallen from a height of around one storey onto a metal net and suffered numerous injuries.

The man was ferried to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance and later certified to be in a critical condition. Police said that they are yet to establish the man's identity or nationality.

Duty magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit appointed a number of experts to assist in her inquiry. Meanwhile, police investigations are underway.
