No bail for alleged thief who targeted elderly man

Accused charge with committing a 'snatch and run' type of theft on an elderly man in Marsa

A man has been remanded in custody after he was accused of robbing an elderly man on the street.

Simon Borg, 33  of Zebbug has been charged with committing a “snatch and run” type theft on an elderly man in Marsa.

Borg appeared before magistrate Neville Camilleri this morning accused of attempted theft, slightly injuring the man, placing the health of an elderly person in jeopardy, breaching a suspended sentence and breaching a bail decree handed down in March this year.

The accused pleaded not guilty. His lawyer, Franco Debono, did not request bail. Inspector Robert Vella prosecuted.
