Tragedy averted as police stop teenager in custody from self-harming

Prompt intervention by police officers has prevented a man who was being held in custody from harming himself.
The incident happened at the Floriana police headquarters at around 7pm on Tuesday, the police said.
The man, 19, who was being held in a lock-up at the station, had tried to self-harm, but luckily escaped any injury after officers on duty stopped him.
He was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for a check-up as a precautionary measure.
