Man accused of multiple hold-ups held under arrest

Robber who carried out a string of hold-ups pleads not guilty to stealing cash, tobacco, and a car

Charles Mangion, 40, was kept under arrest after pleading not guilty to committing a series of robberies from various localities in recent months.

Mangion was accused of stealing tobacco, cash and holding people against their will.

A  brown Mitsubishi Lancer car that had been reported stolen was found near the home of the accused. 

Lawyers representing the accused did not ask for release from arrest.

The prosecution was led by inspectors Christina Delia, Fabian Fleri and Lydon Zammit. 

The magistrate presiding over the case was Aaron Bugeja.
