This is a historical moment for Gozitans as much as it is for Maltese and so they should be part of this historic moment, Labour leader Joseph Muscat professed this evening.

Addressing the last political activity in Victoria before next Monday's mass meeting in Gozo, Muscat urged Gozitans to send a strong message in favour of a change in direction when they go to the polls next Saturday.

"Maltese and Gozitans must show that the Maltese Islands do not belong to one party or another but that they belong to all of us," he said.

Muscat insisted that while others where caught up character assassination, the PL remained positive.

During his address, the Labour leader drove home the message that the PN's electoral programme was not feasible as the economic growth will not be of 2.3% as forecasted by the Nationalists, but of 1.5%.

"The PN wants to spend €1.2 billion for its electoral programme. This is only achievable if not all pledges are met; or through the introduction of new taxes; or by breaking the country's coffers."

Muscat said his roadmap was "safe" because it was basing its projections on the forecasts of the European Commission.

Muscat once again referred to the NSO figures that showed a rise in unemployment for the eleventh consecutive month.

He also referred to the Enemalta downgrade by Standard & Poor's, noting that according to the credit rating agency, the cable would be in place by 2015 - a year after government's projected date.
