Police security outside Franco Debono's residence
Police deploy fixed-point outside Debono's family home.
The Commissioner of Police has authorised a 24-hour fixed-point police security outside Nationalist MP Franco Debono's residence in Ghaxaq.
The MP lives with his parents, and has had security placed outside his house since threatening to bring down the government by not supporting it in any forthcoming parliamentary votes or in a vote of confidence.
MaltaToday is not informed of any threats to the MP, but police security is usually deployed as a precaution when police deem there is a potential security threat to a person or property.
Such events are not extraordinary: Commissioner of Police John Rizzo has on several occasions provided security for politicians and even members of the media.
The Armed Forces provided fixed-points outside the San Anton and Valletta palaces, and the official Lija and Girgenti residences, while the police stand guard outside the private residences of the President and the Prime Minister.
