'We are still in the dark about Labour's way of doing things' - Gonzi

Although not quite an igloo, the anti-PL rhetoric under the tent was pretty frosty at times.

Prime Minister Gonzi tonight presented the PN’s candidates for the third district, in an event organised in Zejtun.

Financial management, health care and the PL’s energy proposals were the main topics under discussion.

“Zejtun used to be the territory of a few Labourites. If Joseph Muscat is elected those same people will be ministers," PN candidate Mario Galea said.

“We are one bad decision away from bankrupting the country. Fairy-tale proposals like those being offered by the PL belong in Trevor Zahra novels,” Galea quipped.

Galea also referred to the press conference held earlier by Tonio Fenech, detailing the findings of KPMG.

“The PL figures are off by €250 million. According to an independent audit carried out by KPMG, bills will actually increase by 5% under Labour’s proposals. Labour is endangering your future,” Galea said.

Another PN candidate on the third district, former minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici remarked that despite having all the best intentions in the world, Joseph Muscat was still lacking in leadership experience.

Prime Minister Gonzi spoke of the difficult decisions that the PN has had to take in the past, particularly in relation to the drydocks and transport reform.

“Joseph Muscat is not going to be responsible with taxpayers’ money. How can he still promise to hand back the money from car registration tax, even if the court rules against doing so?”

Gonzi lambasted the way in which cancer patients are being used as a political tool, disputing the figures being bandied around about Malta’s cancer rates.

“The PL is not being honest on a lot of fronts. Energy bills are going to increase by 5%. We are still in the dark about Labour’s way of doing things,” Gonzi concluded.

We are still in the dark about the PN energy plan. If all they are banking on is the interconnector, then be prepared for more power cuts. Sicily already has a problem, and the Sicilians would definitely shut down the interconnector as soon as they have an overload on their distribution system. If the PN's fall back position is the gas pipeline, then we have to wait for another ten years for this to come into operation. A wise energy policy indeed!

Joseph Muscat is a friend of the people while GONZIPN have shown themselves arrogant, spiteful, deceitful and enemies of the people. that is why Joseph Muscat is credible and GONZIPN is not. And when you and your relatives have suffered from asthma and cancer, you cannot but feel anger at those that were responsible to maintain our factories of death. Deceipt and fear have been the hallmarks of GONZIPN and the closer we get to the election the more such attributes will become evident.
