Chairman of the Adoptions board Ivan Grech Mintoff expressed disgust in the way gay adoptions were introduced. While the board's collective opinion was not forthcoming on the issue itself, Grech Mintoff said that  gay adoptions were made possible without the board's consultation on whether adoption should have been included in the civil unions bill.

PN leader Simon Busuttil said that the PM should take political responsibility and refrain from using double standards. He referred to the case of Cyrus Engerer, who was lauded by the PM as a 'hero'.

At least 36 immigrants died when the boat they were on capsized off the coast of Libya. About 130 individuals were aboard the boat at the time and Libyan authorities are still working to pull bodies out of the water.

Speaking at a political event in Mosta, PM Joseph Muscat said that in one year, the government had changed Malta's direction for the better. He mentioned economic growth, an increase in jobs and a variety of initiatives that left more money in people's pockets and a higher standard of living. He also voiced support for Martin Shulz, EU president candidate, who recently visited the island.

This newspaper questions the necessity of sending 18 delegates to the Eurovision song contest, which took place last Saturday. Six of these were the group of contestants. Travel and accomodation expenses were paid in part by ROCS Travel and by the Public Broadcasting Service. Among the delegation were PBS CEO Anton Attard, who had to make two round trips in order to be in Malta for the 10th anniversary of EU accession and then return to Copenhagen.
