A Malta-based online seller was the source of the data of 650,000 betting customers, which was then purchased by a Canadian man in 2013. Jason Ferguson tried to sell off the Paddy Power customer details but then discovered that the data was illegally procured, through a breach in 2010. He is not being prosecuted.

The police are investigating an explosion at a Marsa electrical distribution centre that caused two power cuts across Malta last night. The explosion happened around 7.50pm and the resulting blaze was only controlled several hours later. Several flights were diverted after the airport was plunged into darkness.
