Over 200 sites are undergoing or are due to begin roadworks, affecting less prominent routes as well as main traffic arteries. Motorists have been left frustrated at the seemingly endless queue of traffic. Earlier in the week, transport minister Joe Mizzi pledged to speed up the works in Msida but declined to give a completion date for the project.

The PN has warned that the 58c increase in the cost of living allowance was not enough. The government said the low rise was due to a year of reduced inflation but PN representatives recalled that when the PL was in Opposition, a rise of twice that amount was met with protests. 

L-Orizzont

The demolition of the Marsa power station has begun, with heavy vehicles being spotted on site bringing down the air vents of the facility. The six vents have been out of operation for several years.

The Malta Independent

PM Joseph Muscat played down the European Commission's request for more information about Malta's budget plans, saying that the same had occurred last year, as per the new rules of the EU governance system.
