A man arrested by police on suspicion of drunk driving - who then proceeded to bite an officer's arm - said he was beaten by the police. David-John Calleja, 30, is pleading not guilty to 17 charges, which include driving under the influence of alcohol, injuring a police officer and breaching the peace.

The Chinese community in Malta is alleging that the Chinese embassy was aware of the abuse and trafficking of Chinese workers in a clothing factory in Malta. They claim that the abuse has been ongoing for some time.

An infant girl who allegedly suffered a violent shaking is likely to be physically and mentally delayed due to her injuries. A doctor gave this prognosis during the compilation of evidence against a 27-year-old Zabbar man who is accused of the attempted murder of the child.
