Security at the district offices of Social Services will, as of Monday, be entrusted to a private security firm, replacing officers of the police corp. The firm, named as Kerber Securities by this newspaper, belongs to Ronnie Axisa, an individual close to the Labour party.

GWU Secretary General Tony Zarb said that there is still more to be done to eliminate precarious employment, despite the union's work over the past five years and government efforts to target this section of the workforce.

The national airline defended its decision to remove child fares, which means that fares for children aged two to eleven are the same as full adult fares. Minister Edward Zammit Lewis said the move would not harm family tourism.
