A Gozo court yesterday heard how Anthony Debono, former minister Giovanna Debono's husband, had directed contractors to issue false invoices. The ministry would foot the bill for works done on private projects without arousing suspicion. Following a five-hour hearing, the court temporarily froze Debono's assets, upon the prosecution's request.

Former police commissioner Peter Paul Zammit defended his decision to drop charges against an individual who assault police officers in apolice station in Zabbar, in 2013. Zammit says he dropped the case against Josmar Agius, a former client, because the charges did not match up to what occurred during the incident.
