In the Press: No need to investigate Identity Malta head, government says

Although a number of Identity Malta employees were arrested last week in a police raid, the government has come to the defence of the agency's executive chairman Joe Vella Bonnici, saying that there was no need to investigate him.

A gorup of divers has discovered the wreck of a steam-powered vessel, some 3km off the coast of Dragonara. The name of the vessel and how it came to be there is as yet unknown.

The UHM has distanced itself from last week's bus strike, order by the GWU, and has requested that it be removed from the inhibitory injuction brought against Malta Public Transport.

Refugees should be allowed to work and earn fair wages while their asylum application is being processed, employment minister Evarist Bartolo said. This would afford them the dignity they deserve as well as prevent them from joining the black economy, he said.
