At the end of a three-hour long sitting, the Mepa board voted unanimously against the renewal of an application that would see the Freeport's Terminal 1 west quay extended. The decision was met with jubilation from Birzebbuga residents, who argued that an extension would lower quality of life and interrupt recreational activities.
