Radio's to go 'off-air' on Nov 11-12
On the nights of Wednesday 10, Thursday 11 and Friday 12 November between 11pm and 5am, all nationwide stations will be put off-air.
In a statement, the Broadcasting Authority said that “due to testing and maintenance works on present ground-transmitting equipment used at the Gharghur Transmission Tower all nationwide radio stations will be put off-air.”
According to the BA, “this series of tests is a very important exercise that the Authority is conducting on its equipment and which will yield valuable information on the transmitting site.”
The BA explained that all works and tests that necessitate switch-off have been earmarked to be performed during the night so as to minimize as much as possible the disruption of the broadcasting schedules of nationwide radio stations.
“While apologizing for any inconvenience caused, security guards on duty at Gharghur have been given strict instructions to prohibit entrance to anyone who is not a registered user for the Gharghur Transmitting Facility,” the BA concluded, adding that no other persons will be allowed admission to the site.
