The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses has ordered three Mater Dei Hospital employees to carry out an industrial directive and report to work in their original work stations, after having received transfers to other hospitals around Malta.

In a press statement issued this morning, MUMN said that it had lamented on Tuesday evening with the national hospital’s management over transfers handed out to two nurses and a midwife, adding that it disagreed with the move.

“MUMN cannot accept this measure on the part of the Mater Dei Hospital management, a day after Prime Minister Joseph Muscat insisted on national unity and on looking past political opinions,” the union said.

MUMN added that it will be seeking legal advice on the issue of these transfers.
