Zejtun family fighting for €7 million in land compensation

A family from Zejtun claiming ownership over a large tract of land known as ‘tal-Qajjenza’ has been fighting for compensation for years after the land was expropriated by the Lands Department.

Weekly newspaper Illum reports how the land in question, adding up to over 10,000 metres squared in total, is worth more than €7 million, as the land not only borders the sea, but also boasts building permission.

According to the report, the land was expropriated by government for the enlargement of gas storage in the area.

The family has been fighting to receive compensation for the land that was expropriated for years, the report adds.
