[WATCH] Prince Harry to wed girlfriend Meghan Markle

Prince Harry is engaged to American girlfriend Meghan Markle, Kensington Palace has announced.

The couple have been dating since the summer of 2016, and secretly got engaged in London earlier this month.The wedding will take place in spring 2018.

"Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle's parents," the royal household announced in a statement on Twitter.

In a statement, Prince Charles said he was "delighted to announce" his son's engagement, and that Harry had received the blessing of Markle's parents.

Markle, 36, is three years older than Harry, and is divorced.

More details about the wedding will be released in due course, but an official engagement appearance will be made on Monday afternoon before a broadcast interview which will air in the evening.

After the wedding, Markle will become an HRH and a senior royal.
