Malta Cricket team warming up for European Championships

Over the long weekend the Malta Cricket national team is going through a training camp to prepare for the ICC European second division twenty over competition, which will be held in Corfu from the third to the eighth of September.

Twelve teams will be competing which include, Isle Of Mann, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Israel, Croatia, Finland, Greece, Luxemburg, Sweden and the winner of the division three competition which will be held in July. The training camp is being run by English coach Dave Carlise who has been appointed by the Malta Cricket Association.

The eighteen man squad which will eventually be trimmed to fourteen consists of

Mike Caruana, John Grima, Andy Naudi, Sam Aquilina, Ronnie Sacco, Mark G.Sacco, Frank  Spiteri , Dave Borg, John Callus ,Justin Brooke, Malcolm Crabbe,Nowell Khosla, Tony Slater and Joy Ghoseroy who have all represented Malta. Newcomers George Agius, Derek Ali, Sunny Krishna and Adam Krishna are also in the mix.

The tournament will be the same format as was in last years tournament, that of twenty overs. The players and coach are working hard to iron out problems which the team faced last year.
