Open Day at Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra

Heritage Malta next Saturday will be opening Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra free of charge to all visitors.

The two temples and the newly built visitors centre will be open from 9am to 7pm to give the public an opportunity to see the shelters which were erected above the two temples to protect them from the elements and halt the deterioration which was taking place.

Heritage Malta will be setting up several Info Points in the visitors centre and in other areas to provide visitors with important background information.

There will be information on interpretation and design, the shelters project, stone and object conservation, natural habitats and the scientific studies which were carried out before, during and after the project. There will also be activity areas, including a hands-on pottery display, during which information will be given about the pottery which was excavated in these archaeological sites.

Heritage Malta will be providing free transport to Ħaġar Qim at 9:30am and 10am from opposite the Phoenicia Hotel in Floriana and at 9:30am from Ċirkewwa. The busses returning to Floriana will leave Ħaġar Qim at 11:30am and 12:30pm respectively while the bus taking visitors back to Ċirkewwa leaves at 12:30pm.
