Mellieha Labour councilor’s condition improves

Labour councilor Dario Vella is no longer in danger of dying, the police said in a statement.

Vella was yesterday hospitalised in critical condition following a head-on crash in Triq Louis Wettinger, Mellieha. The incident occurred when a Toyota Coaster driven by a 36-year-old man residing in Zabbar crashed into Vella’s oncoming Toyota Aygo.

Both drivers, as well as four British passengers in the van – a 48-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman and two girls aged 10 and six respectively, were injured and conveyed to Mater Dei Hospital in an ambulance.
