Man seriously injured after boat malfunctions

A Sliema man was seriously injured yesterday after an incident aboard a boat after it malfunctioned some 500 metres from the Msida shore.

Emergency services were called at about 6pm yesterday to assist with a boat that had malfunctioned. Three men were aboard, one of whom, aged 29, sustained serious injuries after being thrown against the side of the vessel.

The AFM assisted with the rescue and the victim was airlifted to Floriana, where a waiting ambulance took him to Mater Dei.

Also aboard were the victim’s 23-year-old brother and a 22-year-old Iklin resident. Neither of them were hurt.
