Libyan with fake French passport arrested at MIA

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the Malta International Airport after immigration officials noticed that the French passport was fake

A man who arrived from Libya on Medavia's first direct flight to Malta in several months has been jailed for passport offences.

Ali Abdulrraziq Alhadi Ararah, 28, from Tripoli was arrested at the airport yesterday when immigration officials noticed that his French passport was fake.

During his arrest, however, the Libyan then produced his genuine Libyan passport and attempted to claim asylum.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia handed the man an effective 6-month prison sentence.

Inspector Victor Aquilina prosecuted, while lawyer Chris Chircop provided legal aid.
