An Albanian footballer has filed a judicial protest against Gudja United, claiming that they had not applied for his work permit, despite charging him almost €300 for it.

The protest, which was filed in the First Hall of the Civil Court today by lawyer Malcolm Mifsud against George Grech and Gordon Grech as representatives of the club, explains how Ervin Kurti had arrived in Malta on 27 June last year to join the football club and had spent the last year training with them.

When he had signed his contract with the club, Kurti had been asked to pay a €280 fee to the club directors for his work permit application. He claims that after his employment was terminated on account of a serious head injury he suffered in July this year during a training session, he was forced to leave the country because the club had failed to apply to the ETC for his work permit.

Kurti requested the club pay for damages a refund of the €280 fee and the payment of his overdue wages.
