A parked bus has caught on fire in the earlier hours of Monday morning at the Cirkewwa terminus.

The police said that no one was injured.

In a statement on Monday, Malta Public Transport said that emergency procedures had been activated and that their response team was on site offering all possible assistance to the relevant authorities.

"While no one was injured in this incident, thanks to the immediate action taken by the team on site and in our Control room, our priority at the moment is to ensure the well-being and safety of our employees and passengers," the statement read.

The fire has been extinguished.

Investigations are still underway.
