KSU urges University to publish unpublished test results ‘as soon as possible’

The Kunsill Studenti Universitarji (KSU) has expressed its concern over the amount of University assessment results still unpublished only less than one month before the start of the resit session in 21 days’ time.

KSU has explained in a statement issued this afternoon that over the past week, it had received a number of complaints regarding study units from various departments in the University for which results had still not been published.

KSU has insisted that with the approaching resit session on 1 September 2010, this situation was creating “an unfair disadvantage for those students not yet aware whether they have passed or not”.

However KSU was aware that an extension had been given for University applications without a late application fee. However, KSU warned that this “should not be seen as a validation for the lack of publication of results in due time”.

KSU had also expressed its concern that “students will not have enough time to receive a reply for a revision of paper before they sit for the resit session in 3 weeks’ time”.

The University students’ council explained how the collective agreement placed the deadline for 31 July for lecturers to submit their results.

KSU is thus apprehensive of the fact that this deadline seems to have been blatantly ignored in certain cases, leaving students from across different faculties still waiting for their results,” it warned in its statement.

Such incidents, KSU has insisted, “should be avoided in the best interest of the students studying at the University of Malta”. Finally, it also urged the University administration “to look into the issue and publish the remaining results as soon as possible”.
