Traffic alerts for Bormla and Mellieha

Dock 1 Area (Bormla) to be closed for asphalting roadworks

Roadworks will be carried out on Friday, 21st March 2014 in the Dock 1 area, Bormla from 9am to 7pm. Strict parking restrictions in the area to enable works to be carried out.  Works will be carried out as follows:

Phase 1

Asphalting of area in Triq ix-Xatt ta' Bormla (in front of Simmons) and area behind police station will be carried out.  There will be a complete road closure from the Café Riche roundabout and Piazza Gavino Gulia. 

The following diversion/s will be in place:

• Traffic proceeding from Birgu will be diverted from Triq San Lawrenz and the Café Riche roundabout towards Triq San Dwardu / Triq il-Gublew tal-Fidda.
• Traffic proceeding from Triq San Frangisk will be diverted through Triq l-Inkurunazzjoni towards St. Helen's Gate.

Phase 2

Asphalting of Triq Fuq San Pawl and part of Triq l-Inkurunazzjoni is estimated to start around 12.30am.  Complete road closure from the Café Riche roundabout and Piazza Gavino Gulia is required.  Additional road closure is required at the corner with Triq San Frangisk. 

The following diversion/s will be in place:

• Traffic proceeding from Birgu to be diverted from Triq San Lawrenz and the Café Riche roundabout towards Triq San Dwardu / Triq il-Gubilew tal-Fidda.
• Traffic proceeding from Triq Ghajn Dwieli towards Birgu to be diverted through Triq San Gwann T'Ghuxa
• Traffic to and from Isla to flow through Triq San Frangisk and Triq Tlett Ibliet (Triq San Frangisk to be changed into two-way traffic towards and from Isla ONLY)

Phase 3

Reinstatement works will be carried out at Triq San Lawrenz, Birgu without road closures. 

Public Transport will operate as follows:

• Route 2 (Birgu) to Valletta,  Route 3  (Kalkara) and X7 (Birgu)to and from Valletta shall proceed through San Gwann T’Ghuxa and Verdala.
• Routes 124 and 213 shall be diverted to Triq San Frangisk/Triq it-Tlett Ibliet and  San Gwann T’Ghuxa/Verdala on their way to Birgu.
• Route 1 (Isla)  shall only be affected during late afternoon and shall proceed through Triq San Frangisk/Triq it-Tlett Ibliet on its way to Valletta.

Road Works in Triq Borg Olivier, Mellieha

Transport Malta notifies that due to roads works to be carried out by the Mellieha Local Council in p/o Triq Borg Olivier on Monday 24th March 2014 and Tuesday 25th March 2014 from 8.30hrs to 19.00hrs, the following diversion/s will be in place:

• Vehicles proceeding from Xemxija and from Ghadira will be diverted to Mellieha Bypass (Triq Louis Wettinger).  Access into Triq Borg Olivier will be allowed only for residents and to render a service.

Public Transport Diversions: 

• Public Transport from Cirkewwa – Routes 37, 41, 42, 221, 222 – will be diverted to Ta’ Pennellu/Triq Louis Wettinger to serve the Mellieha Interchange.
• Public Transport to Cirkewwa proceeding from Mellieha Interchange will be diverted to Triq Louis Wettinger/Ta’ Pennellu and will proceed towards Cirkewwa.         
• Public Transport Routes 101 and 102 departing from Cirkewwa Terminal will proceed towards Marfa Road up to Misrah iz-Zjara tal-Papa to serve Bus Stop ‘ADENAU’ .   These routes will then proceed through Triq L-Erwieh, Triq Gnien Ingraw, Triq il-Mithna L-Gdida, Triq Santa Marija, Triq San Gorg onto Triq il-Kbira and proceed to Mellieha Interchange on  the way to Golden Bay.
• Public Transport Routes 101 and 102 departing from Golden Bay will proceed to Mellieha Interchange and then proceed through Triq il-Kbira, Triq San Gorg (to be turned 2-way for public transport only-warden in attendance), Triq Santa Marija, Triq il-Mithna l-Gdida, Triq Mons. I Fenech, Triq Gnien Ingraw, Triq Is-Santwarju, and proceed to Misrah iz-Zjara tal-Papa to serve Bus Stop ‘ADENAU’, from where route shall proceed to its final destination in Cirkewwa.      

Furthermore, the Mellieha Local Council shall be providing a shuttle service, every 20 minutes,  between Misrah iz-Zjara tal-Papa and Mellieha Interchange between 08:00hrs and 19:00hrs, using the same diversion plan of Routes 101 and 102.
