Workers' unions have expressed strong disagreement with suggestions put forward by the Malta Employers Association, which would see workers lose paid sick leave if they have self-inflicted ailments such as sunburn. The GWU and UHM both opposed the proposal, with the GWU threatening 'industrial arrest' if it is accepted.

Opposition speaker for transport and infrastructure Toni Bezzina called on minister Joe Mizzi to take responsibility for his visit to Spain to meet with Autobuses de Leon, the preferred company in the tender bid for the Maltese public transport system. Such a visit is in breaech of a clause, present in the expression of interest, that says that no government official could meet with bidders or they would be disqualified from the process.

A woman and her son had a close call after their brand new car rolled into the sea in Wied iz-Zurrieq. The two were unharmed. A crane was called on site to retrieve the vehicle, which sat in water about two metres deep.

Of the 30 wounded Libyans in Malta for medical treatment, the majority suffer shrapnel wounds caused by rocket explosions. Some suffered head and neck wounds. A humanitarian worker said that none of the patients have returned home yet due to difficulties securing flights but arrangements are being made to find alternate means back home.
