In the Press: 12 dead after shooting attack on offices of Charlie Hebdo

PM Joseph Muscat and Opposition leader Simon Busuttil joined the international community in condemning yesterday's attack on the Parisian offices of Charlie Hebdo. Hooded gunmen killed 10 journalists and two policemen before fleeing the scene. An extensive manhunt is underway and French police have named brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi as suspects.

George Mercieca, a Labour activist in Gozo, has been awarded the position of Administrative Officer, an appointment that has drawn criticism as Mercieca had been given prior work experience, stacking the deck in his favour during the interview process.

The management of Spanish company Autobuses de Leon has met with representatives of the General Workers Union. The GWU is the largest trade union and the one that will be representing bus drivers once the company takes over the islands' transport service.

Opposition leader Simon Busuttil is set to announce a reshuffle of his shadow cabinet in the coming days. This would be the second such reshuffle, the first having taken place in August 2013.
